New Zealand. North Island / South Island new names: Te Ika-a-Maui / Te Waipounamu
After 170 years of unimaginative (but still well loved) names of North and South Islands, we have now been given alternative (but not replacement) names
We can use either, but my guess is that the Maori names will become increasingly commonly used. But there is no pressure what to use.
