Holocaust in schools’ curriculum - grey: yes, red: no white:no data
EDIT: To clarify, esp. red
- grey: mentioned in the curriculum
- red: not mentioned in the curriculum (may still be taught in class, though)
- white: no data
In India for example, the holocaust is not mentioned but praise the “hard-line national ideals” according to the article in german magazine "Der Spiegel".
The map also shows that the holocaust is hardly mentioned in asia and africa.
Also there are some historians and scientists who say that some (german) books are a bit imprecise and don’t use the right words to describe precisely what happened. For example:
"Hitler hatte seine Absicht, die Juden zu vernichten, schon am 30. Januar 1939 zu erkennen gegeben"
(“Hitler’s showed his aim to annihilate the Jews as early as the 30th january 1939”)
Mr. Carrier, a scientist says this statement is problematic because it personalizes the accountability too much, as if Hitler was the only one responsible for the mass murders.
