This is an updated version of a similar map I posted about a year ago, with a few minor corrections/additional detail for a few states.
To get ahead of it, there is a popular folk etymology for Arizona that it comes from Spanish "arida zona" meaning 'arid zone', but there is no historical evidence for this and it doesn't follow Spanish grammar ('Arid zone' is zona árida in Spanish)
