How many hours per week do Europeans work?

In 2024, the average number of weekly working hours for people aged 20-64 in their main job in the eu was 36.0 hours. A closer look at the countries reveals some notable differences. The longest working weeks were recorded in Türkiye (43.1 hours), Serbia (41.3), Bosnia and Herzegovina (41.2) and Greece (39.8). By contrast, the Netherlands had the shortest working week (32.1 hours), followed by Norway (33.7) and Austria (33.9).
