nerdy.maps:
The Soviet Union was a union of 15 separate Soviet socialist republics, or SSRs, divided amongst ethnic lines, though some contained autonomous republics inhabited by a separate ethnic group such as Bashkortostan or Abkhazia. The Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, or Russian SFSR, was the biggest, most populated, and most powerful of the SSRs, containing the capital Moscow. -------------------
