Important events:

1686:
Siege of Buda: The Habsburg-led Holy League, including troops from the Habsburg Empire and Poland, successfully recaptured the city of Buda (now part of Budapest) from the Ottoman Empire, marking a significant victory in their efforts to push the Ottomans out of Hungary.
1699:
Treaty of Karlowitz: This treaty marked the end of the Great Turkish War and resulted in significant territorial gains for the Habsburg Empire. They acquired control over most of Hungary, Transylvania, and parts of Croatia and Slavonia.
1701:
War of the Spanish Succession begins: The death of the Spanish King Charles II without a clear heir led to a European conflict as various claimants vied for control of the Spanish throne. The Habsburg Emperor Leopold I supported his son's claim, leading to the Habsburg involvement in the war.
1714:
Peace of Utrecht: The Treaty of Utrecht was signed, marking the end of the War of the Spanish Succession. It recognized the Habsburgs' claim to the Spanish Netherlands and other territories, solidifying their position in Europe.
These years saw a series of significant military conflicts, diplomatic maneuvers, and territorial acquisitions that shaped the Habsburg Empire's role in Europe during the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
