The lost people of Europe

europeanorigins:
This map displays some of the ethnic groups of ancient Europe that have more or less disappeared. Most of them obviously didn't just vanish into thin air but assimilated into other groups and cultures, but usually their language and most of their distinctive culture were lost in that process. This is not a complete list and should be seen as a work in progress, as I will add more groups in the future. I've also tried to depict relatively closely related groups in the same colour. An exception is the groups in black, whose exact relation to the other ones on the map is disputed. I've also decided to display the Belgae in orange as a "transitional" people between Germanics and Celts. If you want to support my work check out the links in my bio. There's also a link to the European Origins discord server where you can discuss this map and other historical topics with like-minded people.
