Extreme points are the locations that determine maximum limits of a territory in terms of geographical coordinates. The northernmost point (greatest latitude northern), southernmost point (greater latitude southern), easternmost point (great latitude east) and westernmost (greatest longitude west). They are not geometric references that synthesize the country's spatial expanse, orient map reading, and allow to measure distances and compare scales.
In Brazil, the northernmost point (most northern point) is located at the source of the Ailã River, which starts at Mount Caburaí, in Uiramutã (RR). The southern end (southernmost point) is in the Chuí Creek, in the municipality of Chuí (RS). To the east (most eastern point), the landmark is located at Ponta do Seixas, in João Pessoa, the capital of Paraíba. To the west (westernmost point), it is located at the source of the Moa River, in the municipality of Mancio Lima (AC)
