National Mottos of the World
Aofen:
I made a map of all of the official, and many commonly used unofficial, mottos of the countries of the world. A few interesting trends include:
Most Francophone African countries have tripartite mottos (like France's "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity"), usually with "Work" (Travail) as one of the three parts.
Anglophone African countries often reference national unity, a trend they have have in common with many other diverse post-colonial states like Papua New Guinea or Indonesia
Latin American countries often have two part mottos like Brazil's Ordem e Progresso
Scandinavian countries generally do not have official national mottos, rather the monarch has a personal motto
Also, before anyone asks, Kenya's motto Harambee (roughly meaning "all pull together") is the source of the famous Gorilla's name
