How Japan’s Population Is Spread Across Its Islands 🇯🇵
Japan’s 123.8 million people (2024) aren’t evenly spread across the country’s islands — far from it!
🏙️ Honshu, home to Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, holds a massive 81.8% of the population (~101.3 million people).
❄️ Hokkaido — Japan’s northern frontier — has only 4.1% (~5 million).
🌿 Kyushu in the southwest houses 10.1% (~12.5 million).
🌸 Shikoku is the smallest of the main islands with 2.8% (~3.5 million).
🏝️ And Okinawa, the tropical island group, makes up 1.2% (~1.47 million).
