Christianity in Africa is a story of growth, transformation, and deep cultural blending. From the ancient Coptic traditions of Egypt and Ethiopia to the modern megachurches of Nigeria and Kenya, the faith has taken diverse forms across the continent. Today, over 750 million Africans identify as Christian, nearly half of the continent’s population. In some countries, such as Zambia, Angola, and DR Congo, Christianity is overwhelmingly dominant, while in others, like Sudan or Morocco, it remains a small but enduring minority.

The religion’s spread began centuries ago through early missionaries and colonial expansion, but its resilience and growth today are largely driven by local leaders, music, and vibrant new movements that blend Christian theology with African identity. The map of Christianity in Africa is, therefore, not just one of faith, it’s one of adaptation, creativity, and continuity.
