The Balkans is a meeting point of Orthodox Christianity, Islam and Roman Catholic Christianity. Islam has a significant history in the region where Muslims make up a large percentage of the population. Estimates placed the total Muslim population of the Balkans at around 8 million. Islam is the largest religion in nations like Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Kosovo with significant minorities in Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Montenegro. Smaller populations of Muslims are also found in Romania, Serbia and Greece.
