Tensions between India and Pakistan have surged again after a recent terrorist attack left 26 Hindu civilians dead in Indian-administered Kashmir. The region has long been at the heart of one of the world’s most dangerous territorial disputes, with India, Pakistan, and China all controlling different parts of it. Today, around 10 million people live in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, 4.5 million in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, and 1.8 million in Gilgit-Baltistan. The conflict remains deeply rooted in nationalism, religion, and strategic interests—and tragically, ordinary people are caught in the middle.
