Forest area by country

nazar.data:

Russia and Brazil stand out, with forests covering around 59% of their land, making them two of the world’s largest forest holders. Canada and the United States also maintain significant coverage, especially in their northern regions. In contrast, much of Europe sits around one third or less, being below american and Russia standards, even though forest areas have been gradually increasing over the last decades.

Central and Southern Africa still hold large shares of forest thanks to equatorial ecosystems, while North Africa has almost no tree cover due to the Sahara Desert. A similar pattern appears in Central Asia, where vast arid and desert regions like the Gobi leave little room for forests.
