Expulsion and deportation of peoples during World War 2

According to the German-Soviet pact, the "Volksdeutsche", German-speaking populations living in the regions incorporated into the USSR (Baltic countries, Eastern Poland, Bukovina, Bessarabia), are being transferred to the Reich in October. 1939, in June 1940, then in March 1941. A plan for nov. 1939 projects an ethnic remodeling of the conquered territories: the annexed Poland would be emptied of its Jews but also, partially, of its Poles.

The USSR, by force, transfers nearly 2 million Polish and Baltic people to Siberia and Kazakhstan Then, starting in 1941, the Germans from the Black Sea and those from the Volga are preventively deported to Siberia.

In Alsace-Moselle, the nazis practice ethnic cleansing from July 17. 1940; the criteria for expulsion to France are Francophonie, Francophilia, Jewish membership or, later, Catholic clergy and congregations. It continued strongly until November and continued until 1943.

Ethnic homogenization also concerns Balkan states. The annexation of South Dobroudja by Bulgaria (Sept. 1940) expels the Romanians, replaced by Bulgarians.

The anti-Semitic Nazi policy has taken several stages from September 1939: the first project is to concentrate Polish Jews in cities, then add the Jews of the Reich; the second project is to create a reserve in Nisko, near Lublin; the third project is to deport one million Jews per year for four years to Madagascar. At the same time, ghettos are created in Piotrkow (Oct. 8. 1939), Lodz (April 1940), Warsaw (Oct. 1940), Krakow (March 1941) and Lublin (April 1941).

The mass mass massacres of Jews begin on June 23, 1941 with the massacre of Garsden (Gargždai, Lithuania): this is the beginning of the Shoah by bullets. Extermination in death centers is decided in December.
